Bizarre folding mirror issues

I have searched and searched but have not found an answer to these issues
I just rebuilt the folding mechanism with all new internals since the case was cracked
Followed all the DIYs I found and I have been working on cars for 30 years, yet it developed these 2 issues.

1 Now the mirror wiggles about a 1/4 inch front to back, likemotnis not hitting a stop

2 It will fold in then it will go back out and keep going out past open till it is 90° past open.
Checked the microswitch it May be the issue since I manually released it when i hit the button and it failed to stop.

Any help would be appreciated.

These are classic symptoms of failure of the limit switch or mechanical parts within the mirror. There are several threads here about power fold mirrors. Also check other BMW forums. BMW does not sell the motor, limit switches, or little gears. However, since it has been such an issue, you can find aftermarket parts on eBay. Also search eBay uk.

Check the alignment pins for the switch aren't broken off. I had to rig mine to keep it in place. Even with its pins it liked to jump out of place. Also check the little alignment pins on the gear housing are in place.

Ditto on what David.X5 said. If the alignment pins on switch are broken, the SAIA-Burgess switch assembly can be purchased from Newark (part # V4NCS). Scroll down page to find Newark link. Unfortunately, the metal lever, which rises up and down on the switch by action of the cam gear and controls the on/off state of the motor, could not be located online (at least by me)--these levers are often bent when the lubrication grease on gear cam is minimal. If not broken, these strips of metal can be reshaped with 2 pairs of needle nose pliers. For visual of level at top of switch, see 9:17 mark of this video.
