Transfercase input shaft needle bearing
1 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to find a part number for the 2001 3.0 BMW X5 - NV125 transfer-case, Ring Gear needle bearing for the input shaft. I know it's not HK5020, that is the other one, not inside the Ring gear and is 2x the size.
Thanks in advance. |
I tried and tried to find diagrams from the now-defunct New Venture. Never succeeded. The only place I know that sells the internal parts is Cobra Transmission and they don't post the diagrams online. If anyone runs across a full diagram or parts list, please post it...

HK2526 (about $20) for the bearing or this for a kit BK516 ($107)(make sure for a BMW not a VW)

I already got the entire kit plus more. I went for the FULL rebuild including a new Planetary Gear and chain of course. The small bearing was damaged when pressed in. Everything else has gone good so far except trying to remove and put the Planetary Gear bearing clip in place is a PITA. I found the HK2526 on amazon for $10 and ordered it one day rush for $3.00 extra. :) Thanks again. The old chain had just a LITTLE slop to it. ;) |

I meant just the bearings are normally $200, and here both bearings and seals are $100 |
Did you ever buy the kit? As long as the components aren't made in China it should be ok.

Ordered these parts:

I thought now that I have subframe and exhausts out, might as well remove the transfer case. And if I remove it, might as well rebuild it. When will be the next time I feel like removing the transfer case? Never!
Now too bad that ecs tuning didn't release the rear locking differential yet, would be great to get that done all at the same time as well! https://youtu.be/6jqWlS86UKw?si=fN4iWIVgpUlWCzkU |

A locker would be very helpful on my x5 when I’m on winter farm and unimproved roads. I had a come-to-Baby Cheeses moment hunting last winter when I turned onto a dirt road that looked fine, but was ice over mud. The DSC was blowing up on all 4 corners trying to simulate a locker(s). His latest video sort of lost me though as he’s gone into some really amazing mods, but clearly has unlimited money for the project. The design and craftsmanship skill on the X5 is really nice. It’s also nice they picked the e53 to mod. Edit: forgot to add that the Detroit lockers, ECS guy made aren’t called “ratchet lockers” for nothing. The noise they make when unlocking can be pretty annoying. They can also introduce some extra lash into the drivetrain due to their design. Super sturdy and durable tho. Torsion diffs are available that will fit the e53 too. |
