Fuel pump relay location?

Hello...can anyone tell me the location of the fuel pump relay on a 2000 X5 4.4i ? Having intermittent starting problems. The X5 will start, but usually take a couple of tries. Starting with the simple stuff first.

It is behind the glove box. Above the where all of the fuses are.

There is a current thread about removing the glove box (easy).

Thanks squidzilla for the info. I'll check it out.

Unfortunately it seems it was not the fuel pump relay. Still having sporadic starting problems. The X5 is now stalling intermittently while driving down the road.Any suggestions what the next step(s) I should take to diagnose the problem? Trying to stay away from the BMW dealership/service.

Ideally, you would want to use INAP or autoenginuity (I think that is how they spell it) to find out any codes.

I had starting problems and was going to change the fuel pump relay (that is how I knew how to find it), but decided to let it sit a week and let the plugs dry. Anyhow, it worked and I got to avoid all of the diagnostic stuff you may have to do.

Just a short list of things that come to mind from what I have read: clogged fuel filter, failing fuel injectors, leaking fuel injectors. I assume you have no CEL codes to read and if that is so you will need a bidirectional codes reader similar to the two I mentioned. I went and bought INPA and will buy the other one since it is clear that owning these older BMW's it is a must have. The list I gave you is just to help you with your searches, and are keywords that I looked into when reading about my problem.

You can always take it to the dealer to do the troubleshooting and pay only for that. Then DIY, but obviously, that is money that could have went to the software.
