4.8iS Kit question

1 Attachment(s)
I am planning to put the 4.8 kit on my 4.4. According to people who have done it, I need to order front/back bumpers, wheels and exhaust tips. I've been looking at 4.8's and have also noticed a wider plastic trim. Is this purchasable? If yes, is it an add-on or do I have to take off the old trim? I hope the picture explains my query.
Thanks guys.

Yes, you can buy the flared arches. You have to remove the old flat arches. If you have running boards the part #s are:
Flares, rear left 51 71 7 051 035
Flares, rear right 51 71 7 051 036
Flares, front left 51 71 7 051 037
Flares, front right 51 71 7 051 038

Check this thread for more info. For your 4.4 you will also need the part which attaches to rear bumper.

LeMansX5, thanks a million. Exactly the information I needed:thumbup:
Just be sure, I've attached a picture of my X. When you say the part that adds to back bumper, do you mean the little add on skirt?

I wonder how much the parts are gonna cost over here:dunno:

here is mine

Also the last piece of the rear fender extension needs some modification OR u'll have to make little 1/2 inch slits in u're current side molding. I just cut out the spikes and used super glue plastic cement and it's held up great.

You need to buy the complete front bumper. However, you dont need to buy the complete rear bumper, you just need the underbumper spoiler which consists of 3-pcs,1 spoiler and 2 side covers.
You dont have to buy the flared fenders. This is your option!
Your 20"s wheels will fit level to the fenders and will not stick out!

I am planning on getting that done hopefully soon.
I will be ordering from these people.

It seems fairly priced, since it will be primed and painted ready for install.

Think again..I had the same plans until Jude (of Bimmerfeak) sent me this email recently..

Hello Terry,

Thanks! I liquidated my Kit inventory on Ebay 2 months ago. The margins just isn’t there and I over the last 2 yrs I sold 5 kits L I can put you in touch with my wholesale supplier who will gladly ship to an APO….the only catch is you will have to get it painted locally. Are you overseas?

He says his wholesaler is Pacific BMW, who guess what?! Willl charge you retail, not wholesale rate..You might want to check locally to see whats available...

soccerjunky: is that a tri-flo exhaust??

NOC 01-26-2006 10:36 AM

Thanks for the heads up.
I guess I will order from the local dealer then, I just tried to save time and some money by having it painted before it got shipped.
I will have to wait until mid summer then to have this done.
