Advises needed........

After my fifth visit to BMW dealer for the same engine mis-fire issue on cylinder #5, dealer now told me that they are going to submit the paper work to BMWNA to buy back my 2004 X5 4.4i. Officially, it calls "trade-in assistant" program with warranty related limo car(s). From what I understand from the dealer, BMWNA will "buy" back the car with proper value while I can purchase another BMW with invoice cost.......

Does anyone had experience with that? Anything negotiable?

Any advises are greatly appreciated.

No experience with this, but it sure sounds interesting. Keep us posted & GL!

Will keep everyone posted for sure. I supposed to receive my first "official" response by next Monday. Right now, dealer gave me a 2006 X5 3.0i as loaner.

As I mentioned, no experience with this, but my advice to you would be to prepare yourself for some heavy negotiating...

If they are going to give you your new vehicle at invoice, I doubt there's going to be much room to negotiate if any. Good luck and let us know how things go.

The negotiating will be wrt how much they offer for his car...

I assumed they'd just give him what he bought it for. After all, it's pretty new and it was THEIR fault :dunno: .

Actually it's an 04 - I doubt very much they'll offer him what he paid for it...

You may be right, but I would hope he could do better than that for enduring the hassle of bringing his vehicle to the dealer 5 times just to find out that it is a lemon.

My fingers are crossed for him too...

first off i would like to say that the lemon laws are different from state to state....but i california this is always a losing deal for the consumer. you might ask the dealer why they cannot fix the problem. if you do decide to proceed with the trading the vehicle back in you will ultimately be paying more......if you need more advise please email me.

Invoice does not count kick back the dealer gets from the manufacturer...there is another 4 or 5 grand there...you tell em...3.5K under invoice or lemon law!

can't he jsut get a new 05 or 06 and pay the upgrade price. or get a new 04 (im sure they still have some)?
