Cosmos Black Interior Trim

So I am somewhat conflicted on the interior trim that makes the X5 E53 modern and clean. My interior is black nappa with wood trim. I am thinking about the cosmos black trim or the titanium. Those of you with the black cosmos interior trim with black interior could you chime in and tell me if still like the look or would you go in another direction. At this time I am not interested in a wrap of the wood trim.

Titan Silver is easier to find IMO - but Piano Black is amazing (cosmos)

I changed mine to Titan Silver a couple years back - I never missed the wood and hated when I had it

Yeah I am thinking the piano black would be a good move if I find one in great condition.

+1 on the Piano Black. Have not seen in pictures or in person - sadly, its all in the imagination :) Did BMW produce a true Piano for the e53, like on the e39 M5?

I believe the Cosmos Black, however, incorporates a metallic component, is OEM, and sparingly found available in clean condition.

^^Correct - that is Cosmoschwarz - that was the only gloss black available for E53 - no true Piano Black like E39 -

I have the cosmos black and really love it.

Piano was never offered on the E39 either. The only TRUE piano variant was part of a trim style called (Muschelahorn) where it has a wood to black transition / combo. Which I think the X5 also had available, but very very rare.

E53 and E39 shared the same black metallic trim however. Most confuse it with piano ;)

I wish I could find E53 sets as easily as I do E39's :(

Yep, wish I could find anything other than wood at a decent price. Cosmos, Titan, Imola, etc.

FWIW, there is a drool inspiring set of ACS real carbon fiber trims on ebay right now at ~$1500 if memory serves. If I were part of the 1% (hell 5%) I'd be buying that. :)

I drooled over that for a long time. Then I bought 3M carbon fiber wrap. :)

I have Titan but on alcanatara seats and thinks it works well since more sporty and blends with door handles.

Im one of the rare few who likes wood as my M5 has black birch but in this application my choice remains with Titan. I like the "thought" of black trim but practically speaking if you DD the X or any car its a royal PITA to remain in decent condition especially on the console.

There's a lemans blue set on eBay right now... wink wink. I've heard the seller is open to any offer.

Cross-posting from the "What did you do today" thread. :)

Just wrapped my dark walnut in carbon fiber. Looks solid, in my opinion. Haven't done the rear or center console yet though.

I purchased real CF trim my guess is in 2006. I think it was between was $8-900. It came from UK and was supposedly the last new set available. I can't even imagine the 5%.

Is that a stock wheel? I've seen a handful of X5s with it, but never quite understood if it was an option or where it came from.

No, That's an M3 SMG paddle shift wheel. I changed the steering wheel and set it up so I could utilize the paddle shift feature.

There's a set of that available on Ebay now for ~$1500. From over seas of course. Out of my price range unfortunately...
