You cannot test the system the way you did without getting more issues. You need a software to reset the error/s and restart the system from scratch, otherwise the car wouldn't know what or where there has been a change, and hence the erratic behavior.

Don't agree. Last year when we rebuilt the rear end we had to release all the air from the system to change out control arms and ball joints. When all was bolted back up, system went right back online and filled the bags and worked flawlessly up till two weeks ago.
It did fill up the right side, but the left is shot. It's also a very, very old compressor and if it ran hot trying to refill the reserve tanks than it's all burnt out; or the piston ring is fried. Anyway, it's probably not worth the hassle going forward, coils to the rescue.. Thanks for clearing the air. |
Coilovers is what I chose myself but to clarify: the system would go back online because it didn't think there was a fault, it felt the bags needed air and went ahead and filled them as it is programmed to do. Once the system does detect a fault then a software is needed to clear them and reset the system (once the fault has been fixed).
