side mirror auto dimming
Is there a simple way to tell if I have this option? Looking to replace driver's side mirror since it's worn out and would like to order the correct one the first time. thanks

In daylight, reach around behind the right side of the rearview mirror on the windshield and cover the sensor. If your outside mirrors dim, you have the option.

damn that was quick. I should post here for now on and not on bimmerfest.
will do, thanks. |
Or just look if you have a black plastic "frame" around the mirror glass (it's a single part)
like this one: Spiegelglas beheizt weitwinkel links - Elektrochrom - BMW X5 E53 - Bmw Teile - Bmwrecambios You may also check which options your car has by decoding your VIN (the last 7 digits) here: bimmer.work : VIN Decoder for BMW |
yea it's just the mirror so that means it doesn't have auto dimming?
it is the base model 3.0l w/o navi so i assume it doesn't have too many options anyway |
So you probably have the standard mirror which is btw way cheaper (should be around 20$ on ebay) than the dimming one.
|
much cheaper so i'm glad.

If it has a thick black frame surrounding the glass then it is the EC (electrochromatic - auto dimming) mirror...if there is no thick frame around the glass...then it is the regular mirror: {regular mirror} http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NTAwWDUwMA...3.JPG?set_id=2 {auto dimming/EC} http://bmwrecambios.es/WebRoot/Store...omatico_ml.JPG |
i decoded the vin i finally know what the truck has thanks. yea it's thin around the mirror but that's definitely the easiest way to tell.
