^Good to know. Seems like I am going to have fun trying to find ACTUAL comfort glass when the time comes. Not that they aren't available, but getting someone to actually get the right glass sounds like the issue. As mentioned above, probably due to the multiple glass options offered by BMW originally.
Or, I could walk into a BMW parts dept with part number and bend over? lol. |
presuming at the age, spend the extra and replace the side rubber trim. its held on by tension, similar to the door seals. new top trim comes with glass by default

"Description For vehicles with Climate comfort windscreen S358A = Yes AND Rain sensor S521A = Yes “Green windscreen, SHADE BAND + rain sensor” … 51 31 7 064 863" BMW ETK is the source.:stickpoke |

I found this out before my install date because my insurance would not cover OE on this. They wanted to use the roll of generic stuff the installers carry on their trucks. I said NO WAY and just ate the $25 from the dealer and had it on had on install day. I never researched the side seals but mine were in perfect shape, so no worries... |

yeah, depends how ocd u get. New trim does make it fit ~snugger~ but without a expense.... Especially when they need to remove it off the glass and then the semi fatigued metal needs to grip back on. Fatigue is a bad word to analogize it.... |

So, the silver/blue tint on the entire glass surface makes it the correct glass. |
