Cigarette socket underneath glovebox not working only?

I checked fuse #25 in the glovebox already and it's not blown. My front ashtray and rear cargo sockets are working BUT the one underneath the glovebox is not. Can someone throw me a bone?

I'm having the same problem. Did you ever find a solution to it?

Nope

Maybe the plug that you are plugging into the socket is the problem. Have you tried other plugs/accessories? FWIW I have a Garmin GPS connected to the socket and never had any problem with the GPS not working. The cable is always connected to the socket, I just disconnect the GPS when I am not driving the X.

Perhaps someone has removed the bottom panel at some point and didn't hook up the cigarette lighter + and -? Seen that before.

I doubt it. The PO wasn't a modder whatsoever. and took it to the dealership for everything. Likely wire/connection just fell off/loose or something is actually broken. I can replace it, I just have no idea how to get to it. Anyone know how that console comes apart. I can see seams and panels all over the inside but no screws, pry points or any indicator/clues on how to disassemble it.

One philips head screw up front and then you just pull off starting from the front.

I looked all over the inside of the center console, by the shifter and up by the cup holders. I didn't see any screw... maybe we are talking about different models? Or I'm still just not seeing it.

I just heard back from the dealership and they told me that the cigarette lighter is part of the cupholder assembly and that I had to replace everything at the cost of about $700+ dollars. LOL :bustingup I know bimmers are expensive but come the fuck on... I tried to clarify with him several times that it wasn't the front cigarette receptacle by the cup holders but rather the center one in the armrest console. He was very adamant that we were talking about the same one but it doesn't make any sense that the center one is part of the cup holders... they are far apart and there are several panels separating them...

Anyways, I think I found a work around anyway. I'm trying to use the center cigarette receptacle for a hide-away blue tooth unit. So what I ended up doing is ordering a USB to cigarette charger adapter and will just run the power supply through the usb port in the center console. It's not perfect but it will work!

I'm somewhat confused...the OP has an e53 X5 and is referring to the 12v socket below the glovebox (down in the front passenger footwell)

The second forum member has no vehicle info (is this an X5 if so which model...e53 or e70 or f15?)...and is asking about a 12v socket in the center armrest. The e53 doesn't have a 12v socket in the armrest. There may be wiring there that carries 12v if the vehicle came with the oe BMW phone.

Are we all on the same page and talking about the same generation X5?
