How to clear old SRS trouble codes?
1 Attachment(s)
Hi, at some point the mechanic disconnected a bunch of SRS stuff and the ECU caught it.
However, it is all hooked back up and according to the analyzers working correctly, so how do I clear the old codes for SRS? Here is a screenshot of the old trouble codes... |
Obviously you can read the codes but the software does not also clear codes?
You need to get software/Foxwell Scanner/Peake SRS reader to reset the SRS System or find a friend or indy with the right equipment or go to the dealer. |
I have BMW Scanner 1.4.0 and INPA.
The "Clear DTC" button in BMW Scanner does not get rid of these old trouble codes. I do not know how to use INPA much. But I have used it to read data off the ECU. If someone knows how to use either of these to clear the old trouble codes, it would be nice if you could help out. |
Why not let the mechanic that caused all this problems reset the module(s)?
|
I would, but they are no longer in business...

Reviving my old thread. Anyone know how to clear out these? I have been playing with BMW Scanner and I changed some more settings (on purpose to cause more of these) just to see if I could clear those, but nope... The new ones remain too as "past errors". Lol
These are not causing any issues, it's just that it would be nice to get rid of the darn things. :-) Here is what it looks like now. |
Just hit the button that says clear errors. That always clears them on mine.
|
Lol. Yes, I have tried that, but it does not work. Not even when I hold my breath as I press the button.
|
That's odd. Does it clear any errors on other modules like the 3 I see in the DME?
|
There's a possibility, SRS module is at fault here. Those first two codes; Power Supply and Internal Control Fault point to SRS module as the problem here and erasing the codes, they will just come back.
The SRS module on E53 X5 is located under the center console towards the back. This exact issue happened to me. I got my SRS module from Ebay. Just make sure you get the exact part number and version. When you deal with Ebay seller, just make sure he gets you a working module. In my case, it took three modules before I get a working one. The replacement module will have to be programmed depending on the options installed. You can get the list from the old module using BMW scanner and then once the replacement module is installed, program it accordingly. Goodluck |
