Replacing run-flats with normal tyres....advice please
Hi,
I'm due to replace the tyres on my X5d Sport soon, and at present it is still fitted with RFTs. I hate the hard ride that these give and want to swap them out for normals. What advice can this esteemed community throw my way please? What happens about my run-flat sensors/warning lights etc. if I make the flip to normals? Is there anything I need to be aware of if I go ahead? I will, of course, kit myself with a couple of cans of tyre-weld to keep in the back in case of a flat ;) Thanks Andy |
Search is your friend. This was already discussed a month back.

Just swap them and enjoy your ride :)
Only thing to do: like after every tyre change (or after you checked the tyres pressure) you may have to "recallibrate" the new pressure. If your e53 is a facelift this is done by startiung your engine, pressing the RDC button for about 5 seconds until the RDC dash light turns on and then driving some meters until the RDC lamp in your dash turns off. I don't know if the procedure differs on the pre facelift (without/with RDKS)... But just take a look at your manual if you are not sure... |
