wheel fitment

Quick question (hopefully)....
I'm looking at some 20x10 wheels with an offset of 40. I know this is a bit off from OEM. Would this bring the wheel closer in or further out? Also, would I need any spacers if it brings it in? I'm planning on using these all the way around with 315 tires.

Thanks.

As a simple rule, the bigger the offset, the further in your wheel will go.
Oem 20"s have Offset ET45 at the front and ET30 on the rear.
Since you are planning to install those 20x10 wheels(ET40) all-round,you will have different effects on the two axles.
On the rear ,these wheels will be brought further in due to the bigger ET and they are also half an inch shorter(oem is 10.5").Here you can use 30mm spacers.
At the front,it will be the opposite! The wheels will be sticking further out due to the smaller offset and wider wheel(oem is 9.5").315/35/20 at the front would be way too much!Stick with the oem 275/40/20.

Thanks guys!
Unfortunately, I keep getting myself confused with these offsets and stuff. If I were to stick with OEM tires sizes, which would be the best for front and rear? Thanks again. I think I'm starting to get it, but don't want to make a mistake if I can avoid it.

20x8.5 offset:35 (my thought for front)
20x8.5 offset:20
20x10 offset:35 (other thought for front)
20x10 offset:25 (my thought for rear)

20x8.5 offset:20

20x10 offset:20 (my thought for rear)

This would give same wheel positon as oem
On the rear,if you have the flared fenders you can safely go with a 10 offset.
