Throttle Housing Assembly V8

I am in the process of replacing the throttle housing assembly that attaches to the intake and I want to know what the consensus is on do I get the replacement part from BMW or the OE one from a vendor. VDO makes it for BMW but you can purchase the VDO unit from AutoHaus, ECS, FCP, etc. for about $120 less than the dealer unit. Anyone have any experience with this on which to choose? Thanks in advance for consideration.

I assume the TB motor/actuator has gone bad?

The OE manufacturer should be good in any box. ECS is cheaper

Yes that is correct that it is going

The actuators rarely go bad, doesn't mean they can't.

There is a lab scope test for these but the scope will be more than the part.

Go with the OE builder and save some $$ and you should be golden. Hopefully not much else is none functional.

Yes its true that they rarely ever go out but I have seen one on a 540i that went out with a fellow enthusiast's car and he had tell tale signs and yet he chose to ignore the warnings (repeated codes of the same). When it finally failed it left him stranded on the highway. I on the other hand would like to avoid such an occurrence and be proactive. I have ordered the VDO unit from autohaus which is the same manufacturer for the BMW branded unit. Thanks for the insight Stephen
