Inexpensive BT adapter

Anyone tried one of these? Seems to good to be true.

For BMW E39 E46 E38 E53 X5 Bluetooth module radio stereo Aux cable adaptor 20 Cm | eBay

Yeah, I know that when things seem too good to be true, they usually don't pan out too well, but for ~$25 it seems worth a punt. :dunno:

Go with a quality unit like GROM

Looks like it is only for streaming music from your phone to the car radio. Since they don't list it as being able to use as a telephone, it probably doesn't do that, or if it does stream telephone it probably doesn't mute the radio.

Looks like it's using the AUX function of the car. So, in theory, it should be able to do telephone as well. Let say you're streaming music. Call comes in, your phone should switch to telephone mode and mute the music. The incoming call is routed to the speaker (AUX mode) just as the previous music stream and the phone's mic is used for your outgoing voice - assuming you have your phone mounted/placed somewhere near you. A kluge, I know. This is only useful if you're always using your phone to stream music and you're in AUX mode all the time.

BUT, :iagree:GROM is the better solution.

I should have mentioned I am only interested in the streaming music function and this seems a cleaner solution for an aux. input as it avoids having a phone tethered to the car via an aux cable.

I don't often listen to music in the car and I have yet to address a dead LR speaker so I don't want spend much on this project. It's more for others in the car that want some tunes.

Maybe I'll try one out and report back.
