Another Mirror Question

Is there any way to adjust how much the passenger side mirror tilts down when reverse is engaged?

In my M3 I do this by moving the mirror adjustment button to the left (driver's side) then engaging reverse. The passenger side mirror tilts down.
While still in reverse I then move the mirror adjustment button to the right (passenger's side) and this allows me to change the position of my passenger side mirror. I move the mirror adjustment button back to the driver's side then engage neutral or a forward gear. The mirror tilts back up. The next time I engage reverse with the mirror adjustment button on the left (driver's side) the passenger side mirror tilts down to the way I adjusted it.

I tried this on my X5 and it didn't work. My passenger side mirror does tilt down but only in one way, I can't seem to adjust how much or how little it tilts down. Any comments, suggestions and or clarifications are welcome.

I'm not aware of a way to control the amount of tilt.

Yay...!! I actually know one!!! If you want the passenger mirror to tilt down when you go into reverse then move the mirror selector switch control by the drivers window controls....just move it to the other side, like you want to adjust the other mirror.

whoopsie..I got so excited to answer I didn't read the whole post. SO after reading.....the same thing was happening to me after I had my X for a couple months...turns out the motors were bad...the dealership replaced them for me. You just need to have them replaced...mine were also just 'going down' and not 'tilting back up'. They now work both ways.

You're right. This is not settable on the X. I wish it was though, mine goes lower than I would like it.

Ohhhh..Okay...we're talking about the degree of the 'tilt'...huhhh, I've never heard of such of thing. I don't know then. :)

....Don't worry Jay...my shells a lil' thicker than the average blonde!... :)

No worries...

I've gone round and round on this issue, but it seems like preset or down are the only two positions for the Right passenger side mirror. GEEEEEZ, my $25K Passat had adjustable down position - oh well. I still wouldn't trade my X5 for a VW.
