My Sports seats were optional according to my 4.6is build sheet. This was similar to my 99 540i wagon which had the sports package but came with the comfort seats. I did not care for them and replaced them with a pristine set of sport seats. So its very possible that with the latter models of the X(like yours) that sport seats became the standard/norm.

The E39 I've had for 16 years was what started me on the boards. I've been driving it daily these last couple of weeks while we shoehorn the big brakes onto the E53. The Sport seats were standard in any E39 with sport package. The comforts were a $500 option. Like yours does now, my '00 540 has sport and premium with sport seats. I also prefer the sport seats in both the E39 and E53.

It does make sense the dealer or individual who ordered would have the option of comfort or sport- appearing then as if both were an option. It looks like *both* weren't so much the option as *either* was an option. ;)

Per my original window sticker, sport seats were listed under standard equipment.

Leather seats are listed under options at no added cost. My interpretation is that at least the 2002 4.6is were all built with sport seats and that there was at least one other choice for material used on those sport seats that could have cost more, less or also included in the cost.

This guide should be helpful for those not familiar with the options on E53

I called seller Saturday, never called back.
Don't know where we are at now.
Not as warm and fuzzy

Ok hope this is real deal it would be a good find. Good luck

I need to ask this.
Is this sale price too low if it is a cream puff X5?

I have a 2004 and bought it knowing I need valve-stem seals.
Seller knocked off 3K sales price.

I NOT at all familiar with M62 engine .

What do I need to look at closely in case it's a dud.

Generally, when a private owner of a vehicle like the 4.6 sets the price lower than average it is a realistic value of the vehicle compared to other similar vehicles on the market.

There are some things that normally need replacing at 75,000+ miles but with a 14 year old vehicle the only way to get even close to accurately determining a fair purchase price is a thorough inspection. Again, suggest a PPI from a well recommended BMW focused shop.

Looks like a nice 4.6is, although the seller has only posted pics of the shiny areas.

Can't understand sellers who don't post pics of engine/chassis/suspension. These are the pics that tell the true story of overall condition.

When I go to look at a used vehicle, a floor jack/jackstands/flashlight are brought along (or I have pre-approval from the dealer to allow my inspection on a lift).

PPI and body repair inspection reports are a pre-purchase must.

Mud flap removal is another must.

SOLD

I had my Indy do a pre buy on the 2003 X5.
He said it looks great. I test drove it and looked it over.
I will pick it up tomorrow.

Yeah, 2 X5 in the driveway!
