Hellloooo, San Antonio!

Here for a work thing this week. I drove down today. I'm looking for a couple things to clear out tomorrow- If anyone local can help:

1) Full service wash. I know, I know.. but I haven't washed this thing in two snow storms, 4 weeks (all under 32 degrees), and abooouuut... 2,500 miles. :yikes: I'd like it to look nice(r) even if it will rain on Friday.

2) Nice Independent shop. I'd like to reset an SLS error. I got the dear old SLS error that I get when I load the car with a suitcase or anything heavy. I've had success with indy's who'll reset these things for zero cost. It only takes a minute and these are great guys to talk to- and know- in other cities.

I pretty much only have tomorrow until 5 or 6. Thanks!

I haven't lived there in a while, but I you might try RhineWest on Broadway. They know what they are doing. For some reason they put a blower on an green M3 around '99, and I got to drive it.

I used to use the "Hand Car Wash Company" off of De Zavala Rd. Probably been 5 years since I've used them tho. They actually work out of a DIY car wash but have always impressed me with their work. (You'll typically see some high end cars there.)

You also have Bert's Motor Works off of Tezel Rd for an Indy.

Thanks for Rhineland reference. It was only 10-15 minutes from the car wash place I found driving on the way. The Wash Tub, I believe. They had a special where the $35 wash was 'included' with any detail. Since they said they'd take care of my wheels- which were a sh!t show from mounting new tires and 2,500 miles..

So, for $90, they offered a 'clay bar' wax. I dunno what that means to them for the paint, but for the interior, it means spraying high gloss, slippery sh!t all over my dash and plastics. I feel like my steering wheel has been to the proctologist. It smells like a$$, too. Speaking of a$$, I dunno if they use the same slippery shit or different slippery sh!t, but my seat was so slippery, I think they should lube rockets with this sh!t. Seriously. If you can get my big a$$ slipping in a leather seat, you've defied gravity.

Whatever. It was a legit train wreck before and now it's a train wreck that shines on the outside- where we want it- AND on the inside- where we don't .

Rhineland was pretty cool. They are ALL about the diagnosis, and the customer plan, and the discussion, and like a sh!tload of other sh!t that I didn't have time for. I just wanted the codes cleared. I paid the $90 bc why not. They were nice enough guys and I really don't like that damn error- especially not on a return trip that starts messing with my time-at-the-wheel tolerance.

Since I am here meeting some new folks, I stopped into Diesel Barbershop as well. A straight razor shave is a man's pedicure. I tightened up the #1 on the crown and went for the 4 towel shave. I even picked up sh!t to put in my hair.

Wait. Speakers? Hair care? Beauty parlors? (even if they do have old school Farrah Faucet pinups on the wall) Am I? Is this?

I'm either turning into my wife or I'm having a mid life crisis. Next thing you know, I'll be looking for round tortoise shell glasses so they'll pick up the color in my eyes. :shudder:

Anyway. All of that aside, San Antonio has been kind and about 50 degrees warmer than home. Tough to complain. Now, I'm off to exfoliate before a soothing cucumber rub. :stickpoke

(He said cucumber rub)

Sorry I'm just making it to this thread Prop. Welcome to the 210! But I had a good reason...

My son was born on Friday @ 10:19PM. 6lbs 12oz, 20" long, with a fairly full head of hair. :beerchug::bmw:

For the wash I would have suggested Concours Auto Salon on Babcock. That place is amazing. And they don't use silicon lubricant to shine up the interior... ;)

Rhinewest is a good place, though not my ideal place (a bit far from me, and a bit too "high end"). I prefer Bert's Motor Works personally but I'm sure Rhine took care of what you needed.

How long are you in town for?

Joseph is a new Poppa (congrats brother!), and Prop is going through a poppa's mid life crisis LOL

Great light! There is a photographers convention here as well. People are lugging some serious weaponry around. I'm across the street from the Alamo.
