I fixed one issue and caused another

Hi guys, my key fob hasn't been working for a while so just been using the key in the door that has been working the centro locking fine for the last three months unlocking and locking the car with no problems. At the weekend I replaced the driver side window regulator as the window kept getting stuck, I replaced it using the guide on the forum (great guide thanks) and was felling please with myself as all working properly. I then went to move the x5 and it wouldn't started I had drained the battery while fitting and testing the window regulator. Not a problem I thought and charged the battery up over night.

Now I can start the car and drive it fine but the electrics have gone funny, the key now only unlocks and locks the drive door only, I have to start the car and press the inside lock button to lock/unlock the three other doors, to open the boot again I have to start the car to use the button on the centre console as the buttons don't work without the car engine turned on, the button used to work before without the engine on. I replaced the battery in the key fob but his doesn't do any still. Also yesterday I was driving into a car park and none of the windows would work at all.

So I'm thinking I have damaged the driver side lock while fitting the driver side window somehow, I have seen these kits on ebay BMW X5 DOOR LOCK REPAIR KIT FRONT-RIGHT | eBay unless this has failed with me using the key all the time.

But it doesn't explain these range electric issues that haven't be right since the battery died?

Any ideas? Many thanks Jon

E53 key doesn't use a replaceable battery that I'm aware of (maybe 1999 model?). Sounds like you need to resync your key to get the remote working. Turning key to unlock twice in the door should unlock all doors.

If anything, to me sounds as if you damaged something on the drivers door module, which is the window buttons on the drivers door. You can try get a used one but not sure if it needs to get programmed for the vehicle or if its plug & play

My guess is something along this line. Like maybe you did not plug a connector back in properly? That module, with the window controls, should lift right up and out, without needing to take the door panel off again.

Also, when debugging electrical issues, make absolutely certain that your car battery is fully charged. Some problems will be intermittent at reduced voltage, which will make debugging a lot harder.
