All of a sudden I'm having to input a deactivate code sometimes to start vehicle. The following shows up on NAV... any ideas what triggered this

Your X5 wants an upgraded radio and some serious interior detailing?
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Possible issues: Battery voltage and or radio on it way out. Settings are in the owners manual. You may have to reset them as things go way off if battery voltage drops below 9.6V on cranking. Check your battery at the top posts- key off engine off and again at idle and 1500 RPM.

Does anyone else have keys & access to your vehicle that could he activating the OBC anti-theft code? Are you setting a code?

If no to the above...then loss of power as mentioned above can be the cause.

To clear this hurdle when it appears...what are you doing? Are you entering a specific code that was previously entered....or are you getting lucky and entering a random code that is working to release the vehicle to start?

No, no one else has a spare key or access. No we are not setting a code. To get going we input the known code and it fires off. Interesting point, if the radio goes out while driving, we know it will need the code prior to next start up. Additionally, the turn signals in dash also become inoperable, but they function properly on exterior.

Tested battery last night at the poles and it was only showing 12 volts. Put charger on it and left it alone. Battery is about 6 yrs old... may be time for a replacement anyway.
