Service question
Since i am no longer driving an X5 (Sadly, 3.5 years removed) just had a question to the loyal E53 owners, how much do you guys pay for routine service (if i remember correctly its when you get to one green bar on the lower left dashboard next to the Board computer display) do you take it to the dealer?
|
What car if an X5 and in Australia we charge $300 AUD FYI
|
An Inspection 1 (oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter plus checks) cost NZ$900 at a dealer.
Nope. |
Cost of parts only.
Mobil One 0-40w plus a filter or two as needed. (Air, cabin) check everything else and replace /adjust/lube as necessary. One inexpensive DIY. |
^ +1...
If I am feeling really lazy/pressed for time/don't feel like sliding in under the car, I take to a BMW Indie 35 mins away, in Asheville. They charge me ~$100 to $150 depending, and give it a very thorough going over, while up on their lift. Odd question, because most of us don't run the lights down to one green, and most of us with our ol' e53s don't run to the dealer very often, if ever... GL, mD |

Ditto some answers above. At this point...most long term owners DIY simple stuff like this.
OIL SERVICE is the simplest and easiest to change yourself...the INSPECTION adds a few more things to take care of. |
^Good to know - As I'm approaching 100k (at 93k now) I will look into the oxygen sensors, and I am way overdue to replace my coolant as I've had it 5 years and never replaced -

I run occasional additives but not every tank, but you're right its not like my mileage has taken a dump or anything -
At $300 for 4 new Bosch sensors I'd probably need to have a reason to do it - OTOH, cooling system overhaul is absolutely necessary, I took ownership in December 2011 and although I've only put 34k miles on, time is more of a factor on the cooling components - I probably will look into the Tank, hoses, Tstat, and possibly preventatively doing water pump along with full coolant flush (and a bottle of Redline Water Wetter as I see that you do) and should be good for another 5 years - |
