X5 Seat Belt Alarm - Help!
 

Hi everyone I've seen a few of these threads here and elsewhere but haven't been able to get much definitive answers. I should note that this vehicle is new to me (bought it off my father) 2006 X5.

My dad seemed to care less but the seat belt alarm on the drivers seat goes off continuously regardless of whether seatbelt is on or off (I always wear it). I don't mind the alarm in general - it is a great reminder to buckle up, but I don't think I should have to listen to the sound (which is quite loud and long lasting in this vehicle by the way!) when I am wearing the darn seat belt!

I don't really care what the solution is - I assume that I could pull a fuse to disable (disable other things too?), replace the belt assembly (or part of it?), reprogram something?

In other words, I am fine having the alarm in general, but am happy just to disable the entire function if it saves me money. My mechanic couldn't figure it out either but he is more of a foreign car specialist not a BMW guy.

Can anyone help? My wife looks like she is about to jump out of the car every time we drive!

You can code it out via NCS. Used to do it on the E9x chassis because they were overly sensitive especially on the passenger seat...Put so much as a bag or a purse and the chime would go off to fasten passenger seatbelt.

On those cars I could either disable the chime but still show the fasten seatbelt logo in the gauge cluster, or disable both the chime and the symbol.

Having the chime now doesn't really bother me anyway because I'm usually buckled up as soon as I get in...Experience with getting rear ended while parked on the side of the road saved my ass lol

Just fix the damn seat belt receptacle. The receptacle can be replaced. I wouldn't be giving any advice on a public forum on how to hack the Safety Restraint System aka SRS. Too many liars oops Lawyers around that would sue your ass.

Don't you guys stay up late and watch all the lawyers on late night TV advertising their services from meso-cancer lawsuits to seat belts lawsuits, to hernia mesh lawsuits.................................

As I mentioned Im not trying to circumvent a safety feature..it is malfunctioning and goes off even when buckled.

So just replace the receptacle. Most people will tell you that when they buckle up the seat belt, the gong/chime stop ringing. Obviously the circuit in the receptacle is not working as designed.

Get one for your year. I believe the thickness of the metal belt buckle varies from the early cars to the later car. The early car buckles are thicker than the later cars.
