I'll have a write-u covering the M56 valve cover swap in the next month or so. Gf's E46 will be getting it as well at the X5, since both systems are original at 118k..

^^Really looking forward to seeing this!

FYI...I did the BavarianE39's CCV Mod with Duralast PCV Valve, oil consumption used to be 1qt/400 miles, now after PCV Mod, it is zero oil consumption.

Fix the oil separator problem for short drives during the winter, got the wife a soccer mom mini van (Toyota Sienna XLE) that uses a regular PCV valve instead of that over engineered CCV.

Replacing mine and all of the hoses this weekend, along with a Viton OFHG. Must easier job with that out of the way. I also have the un-baffled "cold weather" dipstick.

Good Job!!!

Great reminder!
I just ordered the CCV and DISA for my E46 w/M54 engine. No issues but parts have 125K on them and I don't like waiting for old parts to fail and create problems when the vehicle is being relied upon to provide service. Phenomenal $45 price here for the CCV https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MDKVQA3 Mike |

I had the cold weather CCV kit installed 2 years ago, but I didn't get the new design cold climate dipstick guide. I'm pretty sure I am still getting freezing mayo in cold temps, so I want to do the dipstick guide. I've been looking around for a video or DIY how to on doing just that. Some of the CCV videos brush on it, but don't show much on this. Basically what I need to know is how much do I need to remove in order to get to it and what the best way to get to it is. It doesn't help that I am short, and that's a long way to reach down there to seat the O ring!

From what I can tell, nobody has made an aftermarket cold climate dipstick guide 11437563831 - everything that comes up is Genuine BMW. Best price I found was $62.38 from BMW of Morristown, using the BMW PNPC app.
I was under the car yesterday doing an oil change at the local DIY garage. I was able to view and get a pic of it from the left of the bell housing. Can anyone tell if this is the upgraded cold climate design or not? I know my indy mechanic didn't replace it when he did the CCV. https://s10.postimg.org/sq2dhc51l/20180103_171318.jpg |
