Ride quality for 3.0 on 19"
Considering putting 19" rims from the 4.4 model, but not sure about ride quality. Any feedback is appreciated.
My concern is because I don't know if 4.4 uses air suspension which may improve ride quality on 19", but in my case I don't have air suspension. Would you recommend 19" or 18" for summer tires? |
3.0 with 18" rides like a buckboard with no springs. We have crappy roads around here, so maybe you'll be OK.

I have a 04 3.0 diesel with factory 19's and no air suspension. Has sports pack and ride is firm. Wouldn't want to go any bigger though (20's or larger) as I think it would be too harsh.

You should feel no difference going to 19" wheels and tires. We had 19" on our first 3.0i. The last 3.0i had 20", same wheels on the 4.8iS now. I hardly feel the difference.

I hardly noticed the difference in ride quality going from 17s to 19s. The sidewalls on the 19s are still pretty substantial. But then again, not everyone's tolerance of "harsh" is the same. |
I have the 19" 4.4i sport wheels on my 3.0 non-sport. Improved the handling significantly and it rides great! Tires are expensive and selection is limited, but they are the perfect size IMO. The 20's are just a smidge too big for my tastes unless you have the 4.8is. Haven't had a proper photo shoot for them, but here's a pic.

Take a ride in a 4.6 with the stock 20" wheels and you'll feel like your 3.0 is riding on a cloud...

I also have the 19" on 3.0 Diesel and ride is okay. Its not GREAT, but I can live with it for the handling. I love the look of the 20" but I know that less tyre = more pain.
