When you find one, you may want to pay for a prepurchase inspection,. They cost about $90 at my mechanic's shop.

There is no way a 3.0 will approximate a 4.8, but if you want to run drag races get a 300 or M car.

This.

I drove an '04 3.0 for nearly 7 years until I bought my 4.8. I was constantly surprised at the low end torque of the 3.0. Plenty of oomph from zero to 'get around that assh0le in the 'other' ute- as long as it was the right ute- or even car for that matter. But that's the same you'll do in a 4.8. Yeah, it's quick, but it's ginormous. It is what it is. And no matter what you put in it, basic physics demands that you will pick your battles.

And BTW, Mustangs are running around at 1/2 the weight with 4 bangers that push 350HP and tq. Our trucks are old. They were what they were, and they age well and all of that.. but they'll never be the tiny blonde with a sh!t eating grin and more of daddy's money than sense. These are the ones you missed the first time around. The do-over. The one that still looks good and still gets you rt where you wanna be. The one you still glance back to as you walk away. Not bc it's smoking and cooling off from you throwing it around the past hour.. bc it's the one that's sad to see you off. And will be there in one of your shirts when you get back.

Tough to put a price on maintaining that kind of commitment.
