Pop Quiz for the Wrenchers- Oval Nut/Plug on E53
Just organizing the tool cabinet tonight.........
Got some new rails in and redoing it all. Found a 6mm oval socket. Is there any 6mm oval head fittings on the E53 Ehhh, probably catagorize it as the Misc and put them next to the drain plug sockets |

For the fellow weekend wrench warriors, WTF do you do with your excess.
Save it for a rainy day or purge. I've been purging all sorts of sh1t lately...simplyfing. |

What I do with it to make it gone is up to the item. Oddly enough, I have had incredible luck selling previously worn shirts on Ebay. Who knew? :dunno: I had two items on my shop counter for most of last year. I searched Ebay for similar items and under priced them by 10-20%. They sold within an hour. |
I only sell high dollar items...not worth the time and bs between ebays commish and PP...and then shipping.
OT, but Ebay's - Paypals policy is all in favor of the buyer... 180 day return policy with PP, the list goes one. I've been with Ebay since 2000 - so all the rules/games I'm well aware. Got stung on a $2800 sale, but via arbitration, got it back. PP policys are all fuged. It's like giving someone 179 days to rent a iPad Pro and then submit a return on day 180 |

As for the cheap things, those are the best! I use FedEx's free box, ship the item using online tools, and charge the buyer for reasonable shipping. The entire process including drop off requires 10 minutes if I catch a red light on a special trip. I tell my wife that if I found a $10 bill in my shirt pocket at the office every day, I'd have the best job in the world! Hell, I may even actually go TO the office! Next time any of yous have something that will sell fast for $10 and don't wanna deal with it, send it to me! |
I haven't come across any oval bolts on the x5.
I keep all my obscure tools. Excess parts though I sell or just end up giving away. The tools though, you never know when you'll need them again and you'll be glad you hung on to them. |
If they are small and a somewhat common wear item I will put them in a small freezer bag (thicker plastic) and keep them. Orings, window regulator parts, trimp parts etc.

I have a tool bag with all my misc wrenches and tools - and 2 full socket sets, I try not to keep too many "extra" things on the shelf if needed -
My detailing shelf though, along with my towels, is starting to get out of hand, I should really start washing the cars more with how much stuff I end up accumulating - |
I had to buy the special tool for removing the rear wheel carrier ball joints for $300+. The universal tool they sell on Amazon and Ebay doesn't work on X5's. Of course they tell you it does. Trying to decide now if I should sell it or hang on to it. I hate getting rid of tools. I had some combo wrenches I wasn't using stashed and they came in handy when I did the rear suspension refresh.
