Vibrating exterior mirror?

Has anyone encounted an excessively vibrating mirror. Its on the drivers side and I was wondering if there is some sort of vibration damping device that may be missing from mine. The passenger side is fine. When I touch the mirror it feels reasonably secure???

Anyone?

Thanks

Something in your mirror is clearly loose, You or your service technician should dismantle it and find the problem.

Hmmm...I notice out of the corner of my eye while driving my driver's side exterior mirror moves. Not that much, but every so often it will like "twitch." It doesn't need to be adjusted, but I can see it move.

Do you have auto folding mirrors? If yes, try opening and closing several times until you don't hear the motor running when the mirror is already fully unfolded.

I once experienced this problem when I manually folded the driver side mirror.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with my passenger mirror. Look underneath the mirror and you'll see a round plastic cover. Take it off, and you'll find 4 small torx screws. All 4 of mine were a little loose. I tightened them up, put the plastic cover back on, and voila! vibration is gone.

Mine does the same thing, but it's very minor. It might be "folding" feature of the mirror (manual or power) that's causing this. Most of the cars that I've driven (regardless of makes) with folding mirrors seem to have this vibration, some are worst than others.

my pop has a 01 4.4.

his headlights were shaking. They actually told us the headlights were bad (its CPOed so we didnt care). But after one day in teh dealer they called us and told us that it was fixed. theyjust tightened it .

i guess this is a common problem on the Xs
