Flasher programming

Anybody know if the '04 can be coded so the turn signals do three blinks automagically when you just give the lever a nudge? I'm so used to it on my E60.

Nope - no coding option available - there is a module you can install for it - but its not 100% reliable per the manufacturers own admission -

The Canbus on the E53 was not designed to handle such a feature.

Thanks. And that's a shame. Or I'm spoiled...

Ditto...the new gen BMWs (e90/e60/e65/e70/etc) have a more complex communication bus to handle the technology explosion. The E53 has the communication bus of its era...where phones & TVs were still analog. :D

E60 communication bus (has MOST/LIN/ BSD/multiple K-Can/L-Can/PT-CAN/F-Can/etc):

The e53 has either the Kombi-K bus (low cluster) or the I/K/M/P/CAN/Dianostic bus (high cluster):

Ricky Bobby is right. The module is called modLight2 and I just installed it. I programmed the triple blink to 5 blinks and it works 98% of the time. I have had it not accept the command several times for no apparent reason. What I have noticed is that at night with the lights on, the command works but it dims the dash illumination for 8 seconds. It may be tied to the city lights feature that is tied to that function programming selection.(Right fog light on with right turn signal for 8 seconds, left fog light on with left turn signal for 8 seconds0. You have the choice to select city lights or triple blink. It also will not work with the fog lights on. All in all, for $50, it is an OK device but as Ricky Bobby points out, the iBus was not designed to have those commands.

Thanks, but 5 blinks is 2 too many for me. I'll just have to live with it. It'll be less of a problem once I get the intake valves blasted on my 535.

For your consideration, this is what an N54 looks like. Gunked up ports. Walnut blasting shortly.

It can be set from 2 to 5 blinks FYI... ;)

Strange thing. The X5 is my wife's car, and when I suggested this mod she said she wasn't interested. When she drives my 535, she says she can't figure out how to use the signals and just pushes through the click, then fu*ks around until the lights go off again. Doesn't want that learning curve.
