German Auto Solutions CCV kit
It looks like they are about to launch this very soon.
G.A.S. BMW M54 CCV System Replacement Kit About time. I have been putting off doing mine on my 5mt e53 to avoid doing it twice. |
Everything I've seen from these guys seems top notch.
If it works the way they describe it, it's yet another shame mark on BMW engineering. I still don't understand people with head in the sand and repeating: BMW designed it that way therefore it must be right. And yes, BMW has some great engineering, but in the last 10-15 years not so much. |
WOW - Definitely looking forward to this release. Its about time.
I'm impressed and think that the oil filter housing is a damn good idea, using the warm engine oil to keep the goo away on cold days - |
How much for all of that? I'd just swap to an M56 valve cover and delete the whole external CCV. Did it on the e46 and I never have to worry about that stuff ever again.

Yeh, looks like they have a bit of work to do yet. I don't really understand the diagram, is the large chamber the cyclone? then the sludge drains into the oil filter housing, which feeds the bearings directly on the next restart? They say secondary seperator but I don't really see any seperator?? Are they counting the regulator housing as the first seperator and the collection chamber as the second? I can see how servicing would be easier though.

They said it would cost as much as an oem ccv kit. Figure 500-800.00 for the whole thing.
|
That is awesome, and about a decade too late.
|
IIRC, they have been at it since I had my 01 525i, that was 3 E39s and 2 E53s ago :D
|
The last update was in 2-17. They now have a finished product and are doing one last round of testing. The pictures on the site are as of last month.
|
M56 valve cover can be had for 200, gasket for $40, and the hose for 35. 3 hours of your time..
