Valve stem seal job under 2000$
Hey guys, I know how many N62's just on this forum have this issue, mine included, so I asked my trusted mechanic how much he would charge me for the job...
He's got the AGA tool, so it's 1500$ for the labor and 250-300$ for the parts (timing cover gasket, valve cover gasket, intake manifold gasket set, coolant, actuator seal set etc).... Given no additional work required besides this, the price is between 1750-2000$. I might just jump on this offer and fix them. He said he needs the car for 4-5 days.. So if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll hook you up. Honestly, this is a costly job, but my mechanic's price makes me feel good while looking at what the dealer or other independent shops charge for this. Well, that's that. Have a good one! |
Just a couple years ago with the AGA tool a great price was $2500 -
I'd jump on it at that price if you trust the work  |
Yup he's done a lot of work on all my cars so far. Great guy.

Good deal. You don't wanna know what the dealer charged my warranty company for that...
|
I gave them a call last year. It was in the 8-9k range
So yeah, that's how they stay rich. Fishing for innocent fish with a shark hook. |
That's it. Dealer charged my warranty company $9K for the job.

Nice price! I wish I was he was in Cali!

I bumped onto a guy who does this work using the AGA tool driving to your home. price is similar to what four.8is mentioned. I got some parts already from the list he sent me, but the guy is somewhere on the West Coast right now (I think in CO), and he still has couple jobs before he commits to East Coast.

I'd be down in the near future if he was in TX. Looking to sell my last e30 and use that to do some of the big ticket items on the e53.
