2001 x5 trifecta

Hello, im new to the forum. Tom in Billings mt, i recently took my 01 bmw x5 into my local bmw specialist to have them look at my trifecta lights. DSC (exclamation triangle w/ arrow) amber abs and red brake light on. I was amazed to find they were stumped :dunno: . They found no codes and said the lights shouldn't be on? i asked if they could simply turn them off and they said they couldn't due to no codes being found.. They've never seen this before, has anyone else? the emergency brake also is not on, i've tried turning the wheel from side to side.. very weird. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

What did they use to scan for codes? If they just used a generic OBD II scanner run don't walk from them and find a shop that has the right equipment to scan the BMW.

I agree with Up, run. Either find a very qualified shop/dealer. But, this is a very common and WELL documented issue. Search here for "trifecta" and you will have a weeks worth of reading. If you are a DIY'er, you unbolt the ABS control module, very easy, send it to a reputable repair shop, they send it back, bolt it on and you are good to go. Start searching and reading

Yes ABS module can be one cause.

The first time it popped up on the 4.6, it was the steering angle sensor.

It just popped up again, codes point to ABS pump now. Ugh.

Have you resolved the Trifecta issue ?

Try this Method:

Start the car

Make sure steering wheel is centered

Steer it all the way to the left

Then steer all the way to the right

And i hope this will fix your problem..
