Light Trifecta (ABS, Break, 4x4) Steering Angle Sensor?
 

Soo I've had the light Trifecta for a bit now (month or so) and I wanted to wait till it got nicer out before I started trying to diagnose what was going on since the car basically was running fine. So I plug it up to my laptop and the BMW diagnosis tool shows the Steering Angle Sensor is defective. Could that be the reason for the Trifecta and or how easy is it to fix? Thanks :)

Turn the wheel to right and left... if it is angle sensor anyway...original quit expensive

See I did a bit of googling before I posted and I did come across this method and when I tried that it did not seem to work. Does it have to be done at a special time? Or just anytime turn the wheel all the way to the right then all the way to the left?

I did have once this problem when I could not take off those lights! I thought is is angle sensor, but it was toe! We change tyres twice a year and we have to correct toe...after some time toe can come 'wrong' and angle sensor could not read the steering wheel correctly! It can go wrong after hit against pedestrian pat way if u understand what I mean! It is just an example@

Hmmm I think I know what you mean. By toe do you mean the alignment of the tires themselves? I haven't had that done in a bit and it probably could use it!

I had the same problem and if you are getting a code for the SAS that is what it is. You can get them for about $150 on ebay. Changing it isn't much fun though. It will also need to be programmed by a dealer or an indy with a BMW computer. simply resetting the codes doesn't work.

Thats what I thought. Not too worried about the part cost but yeah that programming by the dealer might cost me... I'll try my Indy guy and see what his cost is for replacing it and reprogramming it.
