New Exhaust

6 Attachment(s)
About a month ago jzp240z posted about his new exhaust here https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...w-exhaust.html I went to https://www.schmiedmann.com (an excellent website by the way), And order me a set. On the website, I have talked to the customer representative, and they have told me that it will arrive at their warehouse next week...if the shipping for this exhaust is as fast as other items I have purchased from them, it will arrive here the following week 2-7. I will post pictures video sounds and short clips... my question to you dear forum members is will you like me to do a DIY or not. I will keep you posted anyways. Cheers :excited:

Edit here are the Photos/DIY
1.lift your vehicle
2.remove the muffler hanger bolts
3.remove the 3 screws and remove the rear diffuser
4.remove the other muffler hanger bolts
5. remove the front bolts for the muffler and install the new one.

I did not take pictures of the installation because I was mad at the new mufflers. The holes for the front bolts were way smaller that what is required. I had to have a friend of mine go to home depot and purchase an 5/8 drill bit to bore out the original... that took a while.when I am done editing the video I will upload it all.

Like I have said before this should sound really good since it looks like it is manufactured by supersprint. The regular supersprint offering is like $700-$800 more than the Schmeidmann so this is a great bargain. Schmeidmann does some really nice BMW upgrades. Can't wait for the sound clips

Yes, it is.

Update: the exhaust will arrive this Wednesday..... That said. I will install it that same day and will hopefully upload pics and probably the videos.

Are there any other mods that can be done to give more/better sound alongside using this system?

So far I have the cold air intake and i remove the middle silencer and in its place put a x-pipe. The cold air intake makes it louder as it does not muffler the engine intake. And the mid X-pipe makes it a bit louder, but nothing crazy

Well its on... That said, it sounds good (i will post videos and pictures on Saturday) on of the fist thing I notice is that when I let it come to a stop, it will not slow down as fast as it used to. Its like I took the engine brakes off. Does any one X5 N62 slow down my it self-quick? Mabey my rear exhaust were bad and were causing back pressure in the engine... If you do not know what I am referring to engine brake a simple google search will help.

Sounds like it has less back pressure with the new exhaust. Freeer flowing etc. Does the exhaust sound deeper than the stock one?

Idk but for my liking it's a bit too low. I prefer nice growl.

Emory39 04-16-2017 09:57 PM

I am debating if to take the middle resonator that came with it. Because of the lack of noice... don't get me wrong ... I like it but, I feel it needs a bit more.... attitude ;)u

Sounds good to me. But if you want more sound then you could always go the route of the X pipe replacing the resonator. Keep in mind the exhaust will get deeper and little louder as it breaks in 1000 miles or so.

So you have the x pipe with the factory center resonator? You don't need both?
