Ride Height?

OK, so I was looking at my friends new X5 and he has this swtch to lower/higher car ride. I asked him and he said it was OEM. Can I get this installed now(bby OEM), or do they make X5's with that? DO they have to jsut add the switch, or do they add new hardware(shocks or something...)?

Oh man, I would be careful on that unless you can retrofit with OEM---if you ever got in an accident and the cause was traced to suspension mods--either your ins company or the other guy's might try to wiggle out of paying...what about getting a lowering kit (spring change)? Good luck--if you get it done I'm sure you'll post pics, right...?

anything can be done.. it's just gonna cost you $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Chip 01-29-2006 10:43 PM

well, i want ONLY OEM so they dont bs about warranty. online it says 500, will they charge more?

If it's a retrofit, lots of $$$$ and that's if they'll do it.

I think it would definitely be more than $500. I've got it on mine and on the sticker, it was a $1,200 option............

Krunk Man 01-30-2006 02:15 AM

1200? maybe they lowered the price recently??

Whoa, $1,200????? :wow: I have it and it's listed as $500.

It would probably be more expensive. You would need to install the air pump in the back and front mount suspension components so you could do the ride height.
Not worth it in my opinion. I have it in my '03 and it doesn't keep the vehicle lowered once you reach a certain speed ~ 25 mph. It also does not operate when the doors are open.
There has been some threads about an override but we haven't seen any results so far.
