Rear airbags to Springs

Hello...

Okay I'm so tired of my air suspension. I've went through 3 in the last 3 years.

Out of curiousity, would I be able to remove the rear air suspension and replace it with springs?

What exactly is failing? I've got 2 2003 bmw's w/airbags and each had bags replaced once since new and both, over 2 years ago.

Is your mechanic daft or are there other issues causing the failure? Just asking.

Honestly, I really think it's because I lowered the truck and I live in an area with a lot of rail road tracks and pot hole filled streets. I drive these streets daily to work. I just think with all that abuse and it being lowered. It puts a lot of stress on the air bags. And it gets punctured. I see no other culprit but the roads I drive daily.

I'm throwing on another bag tomorrow and putting in the stock end links and ride with stock height. I'll see from there.

Yeah. Lowering has to have something to do with it as well. We've done the rear bags only once on my mother in law's '01. We've had it for 17 years and ~120k miles.

Yes. I have never had any problems with my first set of bags when i first purchased the X5 until I lowered it.

I'm well aware that some people prefer to keep air ride, not me.
While some may not had issues, it seems that a lot of people did.
Just about anytime I visit the forum here, there is a thread about air ride issues.
I prefer stock height and I was also able to keep cluster clear of warning air level ride. Almost a year on this setup and it's everything I hoped to be:

That is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much and the pics did justice. So its only a matter of replacing the bags for 2 pads, upper and lower and a spring. Im going to start looking at parts. See what I come up with.

There was alot of parts on that list. Did you just purchase parts like the top and botton pads/mount and spring from a non air suspension X5?

I too spent over $2000+ recently on suspension work. Like everything is full done interms of suspension. I also changed out my axles.
