Best is to hook the car to INPA, then drive around the blocks while monitoring wheel speed sensors.
If all 4 sensors are good, then the ABS Module may be bad. If yours was rebuilt by BBA-Reman, then it is warranted for life. |
I had trifecta; important distinction; all three lights amber will happen on a low voltage dip. monitor voltage especially when coming to a red light. My alternator brushes wore out. I replaced them for $20 and grease monkey biz. Sadly in my case i had more than that problem; when i replaced my right front bearing last year, the allen bolt holding the speed sensor snapped the head off, and since it took a hammer to (gently) knock the speed sensor in i let friction hold it; well that worked until it warmed up and the speed sensor wiggled loose and occasionally tripped the trifecta (orange).
I'd check the easy things first; voltage steady all rpm easy to test, that's the easy answer w/o abs module. PS: i don't think trifecta will cause a problem for emissions; they are only concerned with pollution; you can check with basic readers that will say 'ready for inspection; the fact that the basic reader won't read abs also will corroborate that fact. |

Thanks for all the continued input. Don't know why this has to be such an issue on these friggin' cars! I took all sensors out yesterday, checked them for any visible signs of degradation, checked wiring, etc. Everything seemed fine. Light was off for a good 20+ miles last night and today. Thought I had blown something off the sensor on the axle. The "reverse trick" worked a couple times, so my theory was that there was some crap in the receiver hole of one of the sensors. Well, the light is back on and now next step is the module.
But, I did get this on my scanner for the steering angle sensor. Cleared it and it came back. Is this enough to cause a problem?? I show steady readings from all 4 wheels with my Creator 310. Guess I get to make a trip to BBA.... And here in MA they also do a safety inspection. I assume that if they see the dash lit up like Xmas tree it would fail. I will have to confirm that |
