Goodonya for getting it sorted, Lamby - but that sort of work isn't for the faint of heart (or light of wallet)!!
It's a lot of stuff to have go bad all at once. Was there any indication of the order of failure - i.e. did the injectors go bad, trashing the turbo etc.? :dunno: I guess one of the factors that keeps us plugging on with the E53 is that even though the bills can be large, we are still spending less than buying a new car, and we probably still have a better car. Just keep repeating that to yourself and it'll become truth!! ;) |
This might sound crazy but my thermo ment that car wasnt getting to temp for a while. I left this job for ages as I didnt think it was a major, ie, Car not over heating. Seems that car not at operating temp means it might have stressed other parts, if exhaust is not hot enough, perhaps the ERG valve exhaust is cooler and then then harder to burn off the rubbish in the combustion. This is all my theory, but.... 4 injectors, glow plugs and recon turbo later... maybe, just maybe.. it is important to keep car at opperating temp. Oh well. Drives like a beast again now.
