Shipping tracking number confusion
 

I have had some bad luck with an unnamed online parts house.
The exchange of emails is that everyone is waiting on the Post Office. And they
are
at fault. I researched the tracking number and the box showed no progress
other than being started at the warehouse.

It's now the third week of waiting for this shipment.

My question is does the USPS update the progress on shipped items?

When I use UPS, they are all over it. It's barely one step below Facebook Live Streaming. They update every 100 yards of movement.

I'm just not buying that the package that was issued a tracking number,
has showed no progress since the 4th of this month.

I would have been much more likely to use this company again, if they just admitted that they F-ed up.

Now, to get my damn money back I need to fill out a lost package form.

News flash: it ain't lost, it's never left the building.

Oh boy sorry to hear. Get on the phone with the vendor and find out whats up!!!

USPS does update and their app is pretty good for tracking (and putting mail on/off vacation hold)

Dewd. Use your credit card company and dispute the charge. Say you paid for goods not rec'd. Then it's up to THEM to prove that they sent it. If they did send it, THEY even have to FIND it, not you.

USPS can really screw things up, so they would be the first ones I would blame, even if you have no track record with the vendor. Once they just lost a package of mine ... and found it two months later, then finished the delivery.

Worst is when USPS partners with some other delivery service like FedEx or UPS, where there is a hand-off so USPS delivers "the last mile." The hand-off is where things get lost or stolen frequently.

Damn. Where do you guys live? We've been in this house 13 yrs and I haven't lost a package- or missed one that was to be delivered. Hell, I cannot recall one that was missed at our last place, and that was another 7yrs.

But before THAT.. Now... When I had the ole bachelor pad in '95... A postage mail that contained a personal check of mine was chewed up, cut in half, and then returned to me. I had to rewrite the check (for my roof, if I recall) but we decided the local vendor would just stop by instead.

Now, I know what you're thinking- I must've forgotten. Well... Lost packages are a bit of a fascination for me. I suppose it started when I was a kid and found a card with a birthday card and $10 in it. I thought I'd struck it rich, but really it wasn't mine. I used the address on the envelope and sent it along in a new envelope.

I have no idea if it made it. :rofl:

Yeah I really hate the FedEx Smartpost approach and the handoff to USPS. it literally tacks on another 4 days to receive parts for which the companies like to market as "Free Shipping " with your order. ECS Tuning takes tis approach and its a horrible free shipping service because of the additional time. For instance Last week my window regulator from ECS and shipped on Monday. Tuesday I ordered the window motor (just incase gear is stripped) and it shipped on Tuesday through regular mail. The window motor shows up on Thursday by regular post and regulator will be here today. 4 days later than the window motor even though the regulator left a day earlier.

Here's something I'll bet you guys don't know about.. A service from the USPS called 'informed delivery'. I waited about a week to get scanned email after opting in. Kind of cool. It's nice not having to wait to see what's in the mail box- or even being excited and making plans based on something like a check that's waiting at home!

As you can see from the map, *most* of the country is covered by the service. I included the scan of today's mail. Nothing but junk. But it sure is nice to know that big ole check isn't in there. :rolleyes: Or, like.. that it will NEVER be in there. :rofl:

I also like that users can report whether or not a piece of scanned mail made it to them. This is a nice starting point for missing mail.
