Can I Add Self Leveling Rear to X5?

Looking at nearly new X5 but doesn't have rear self leveling. BMW Service say I can't add it. Has anyone done this successfully?

Thanks, Thom

Why would you want to? All you are doing is adding needless complexity and problems.

Mine has it, but to be honest I didnt even know and didnt notice any difference from other vehicle that I have. Even if you could add it, I wouldnt bother.

what does self leveling suspension does anyway?? how does it work ?

It's supposed to keep the entire car level as you load up the rear of the X. I have to agree with others here that it isn't really necessary...just more things to go wrong. I don't have self leveling and had loaded up the X in the past and the rear hardly sag down that much.

I'm sure it's a valuable feature to those that tow.

Shouldn't matter for towing. Even if you put a 5000 pound trailer on, the tongue weight should still never exceed 500 pounds. That is still only 3 people in the back seat.
