Arnott font Air Strut

Hi guys,

Just wanted some reviews about the Arnott front air strut.

Obviously its about the air suspension leaking and me having to change it. You all know the story from now.

Also i've read about a guy changing his front air strut to Arnott's one but it going out after two week.

Thanks

They work great , and a life time guaranty is awesome..........I had mine on the 4.8is ..no complaints.

Same I have a rebuilt strut and their WABCO pump. Happy camping.

My low cost SunCore rebuilds are doing well after about 5K miles

The Chinese rear bags are another story however. I've had two blow out on me and yes, the 3X price premium for Arnott was hard to swallow but after the second Chinese rear bag blow out, I gave in and paid up.

The first blow out was a top ring

And the second blow out at 80mph on I35W was a bottom ring failure that I had to cut away to get it to release from the control arm :wow:

I regularly use the lower cost aftermarket parts and in general have had good experiences. However, these air bags take a huge amount of pressure and load. In looking at the Arnott rear airbag, I can actually see the difference in quality crimping of the rings (more clamping points in the crimp die).

That's my experience.

Go with arnott man, you can buy them on advance, there is a 30% coupon right now or on ebay. or pull one out of a junkyard.

Used the Arnott bag only option on the fronts retaining my struts because my X had only 60k miles or so a couple of years ago when needed; all good, would use on the rears if necessary.

My X5 sat with arrnot front struts for 4 years on the bump stops and aired right up.
The guy I bought it from got a suspension fault shortly after replacing them and the shop faulted the Canbus and the rear dropped.
He got so fed up he drove it home and parked it, sat for 4 years!
I cleared one fault with my handheld and the fronts aired right up, the back didn't (plausible distortion) and drove 50 miles like I was riding a horse at full speed.
The fronts stayed aired just fine, I cleared all the faults with inpa when I got it back (cluster communication was issue) and the back came right up.
I replaced the rears with arrnots too and promptly drove it 1200 miles straight, that was almost a month ago and everything has worked flawless.
For those bags to be completely deflated for 4 years outside in the California heat, air right up and not leak. WIN!
Arrnot is the only aftermarket bag I'll use, I also have a P38 Range Rover and that's pretty much the normal replacement for everyone.
I'd suspect some people don't know if they have sport suspension or not, it's worth decoding your vin before ordering replacment air suspension parts.
Also if you're doing it your self you'll want to set all your heights, mine was so far from factory it was comical.

I also can vouch for Arnott. I purchased front struts for my 04 4.4i sport and had a rare failure (crimp ring failed) on a new strut, there was a bad batch at Arnott. They resolved it immediately and replaced with a new one, covered shipping and had excellent immediate customer service. That was back in June and here we are almost into October and haven't had a single issue since.

Here's the DIY video I made for the install:
