20 inch wheel easy question

I am preparing for a new set of tires on my 4.6.
I do this by taking every wheel off one-at-a-time.
I have the factory 5 spoke staggered wheels.

I scrub, wash, scour, remove sticky weight tapes.

My easy question is this:
Is the inside of the wheel factory painted black?

Mine are painted black and they look fine, but if they are supposed to be all aluminum
colored, mine are only silver on the outside face.

What's the day one/factory correct color?

The inside barrel is silver...

Did it come black with the car ?
Is it OE ?
Or was it just painted by the PO
Or just diiiiirty

Mine are black.
I didn't paint them.
Wanting to make them factory correct.

Find a reputable powdercoater IMO and make them any color that fits ur style....

A good PC IMO is hard to find. One that understands color, etc.

Alot of PC for the industrial side are a dime a dozen

If they look good (decent paint job) I would leave it: the inside of the wheels are always coated with varied level of black crud. Mostly brake dust. By starting off black they will look cleaner by masking the dirt.

You could determine if the black is plssti-dip it will peel off. Else back to factory will mean sand blast and re paint inside and out. Upside would be total refresh and no more curb rash should you have.

How are the hubs? A full set can be had for under $25 on eBay. That said find one with high reviews or varnish before installing. I bought a set that corroded within a year

Wait! He's not wanting to paint his rims, he's asking if they are already painted at the factory or not. He's cleaning them to prep for new tires -- a whole 'nother sign of OCD, but that for another time -- and he's asking about how much work he has to do because they are black on the inside.

The question is if he has to scrub some more, or not.

That is correct Sir.
Are the factory 4.6 wheels painted black on the inside?
Mine are a semi gloss black.
Is that factory paint?

Agree with you on this. The factory color is a bright silver. I felt that in today's offering of rims the bright silver is out of place so I elected to go with a Hyper shadow silver (pearl like effect in the paint) that looks more modern and still contrasts against the paint of the vehicle. It was one of the best physical changes that I made on the vehicle. As always something like this is subjective so its just a matter of what you like.
