Seat base removal
So how do you get the seat base off the frame?
As others have done before, I want to swap the drivers and passengers seat bases/cushions over. The seats are out of the car, I have controls off etc, but can't work out how to actually separate the base from the frame. I removed a couple of screws near the front, but the seat base then is still attached by the pivot points, which look they can't be released - so this obviously isn't right. I've searched here and people say they have done it and it is easy, but I can't find any photos of what to actually do and can't seem to work it out. Lots of stuff on google, E46s etc, seat removal, recovering the cushion, but still can't find anything concrete on how to remove the seat bases from the frames. :banghead: |
There are plastic clips that roll over the metal frame. Just unroll the plastic clip from the metal frame and the seat base with the foam and leather covering can be removed.
See this video for an E46 which is similar to how BMW does all their seat bottom. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSKXFNJur-M&t=982 |
Legend! Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for.
Can't believe I couldn't find it. For some reason, I thought there were four screws underneath that held it all in place. Seat base swap here I come! I'll also do the back as well as I know there is only 2 screws and it's off. Thanks again. |
