New Door and frame seals perhaps will solve this metal thin sound?

:dunno:

Just the way it is. I think the window is tapered slightly to make it slide easier in the channels. The window is relatively loose and wobbles but apparently that motion slaps against the motivation hardware and makes for some really horrible sounds

So I have been assuming I have a broken black clip on my drivers window- The rattle when the window is open has me closing this thing like I'm trying to sneak in the house without waking anyone up! This is normal??

All my windows do this. I try to keep windows up before exiting to avoid

That's pretty weird. Mine has 211,000 miles on it and the doors are pretty silent closing them. When I checked the mail today going to town I left the drivers window down to see if I noticed anything and it was pretty much silent rattle wise. I mean it booms when closing but its a large door but nothing rattled.

Mine sounds tearable when down... I think it's the regulator and how it is supported. I've made it a habit to always have the windows up when closing the doors. Not BMWs best product. My e28 on the other hand is built much better!

I love shutting the E38 doors and watching the sunroof pop up a fraction.
That thing is airtight!

I've got the hang of only shutting my doors when the windows are up at least 95% now. It's not really a rattle, just a "cheap" noise... Like... I dunno... a commodore (pontiac to you guys).

am referencing when the door is closed with window down.
With the windows rolled up, it's a solid feeling door.
Why is when the window down it rattles so much?

I have replaced both doors with the upgraded slider rails.
Also, replaced the black window holder thing.

Door sounds cheap with window down, why is that?

Just some of the cost cutting measures that BMW decided to take on the E53 vs previous BMWs such as E38, E39, E46.

The E38 is modern German Tank!!!

andrewwynn 10-13-2017 05:50 PM

I think more likely an oversight than being overly cheap. The glass becomes structural when closed
