Thanks. I'll try the. But what is meant by "Make sure you leave it in battery maintainer mode"?

It means you need to hook up a battery charger to the car while you do this - preferably a battery charger with a special "maintain" mode that won't overcharge the battery.

If you put the key in the car and just leave there, you run the risk of the car draining your battery and you are back where you started.

As as been stated, a decent battery charger is pretty much a required tool for working on modern BMW cars....

IIRC- that means I have to be plugged into power somewhere?

This isn't really an option, as my car is parked on the street... What else can I try?

Go for a longer drive - several hours should do it.

This is my key charging. If you poke some needles through the rubber around the button you can measure the voltage. You can use a 3v or 3.6v battery to charge manually.

If voltage is below 2v but reads means the battery is end of life needs replacement. If it reads over 3 and doesn't work it means the solder joints are shot and need re-flow.

Hi, probably worth a new topic but incase something I've done here is relavent- I thought it worth mentioning.

My fuel consumption seems super high. I drive very conservatively (no hard accelerating).

Maybe this is normal, but it seems my fuel gauge is dropping super quickly.

I'm getting roughly:

18 liters per 100km / 13Miles per gallon

I am using P98 fuel (highest here in Australia)

Could it be because the fuel was sitting there unused for 6 months?

Is anything I've done likely to have caused it? The mechanic told me I've got a few air leaks, and my CCV needs to be done again. Is this likely to cause inefficiencies?

13 mpg on the low side of normal for city driving. Your in summer where you are correct? If you keep your car cool with AC while not moving you can quite easily turn a normal 16 mpg into a quite normal 13. Need to know more about your use pattern.

Have you done any longer drives where you can reset the mpg then do an hour drive and see what the mpg is then?

By air leaks I assume you mean vacuum leaks. A vacuum leak can significantly impact mileage.

+1. Mess with the mix ratio get bad mpg.
