where are x5 produced

are x5 only produced in SC? or in germany as well? are only engine and trans produced in The motherland?

As far as I can remember, all X5's are produced in SC, even the ones destined for Europe and whatnot. The engines are probably assembled in Germany and then shipped over to the SC factory.

From Wikipedia...

E53
Greer, South Carolina, United States (BMW US Mfg. Co.)

E70
Greer, South Carolina, United States (BMW US Mfg. Co.)
Kaliningrad, Russia (Avtotor)

F15
Greer, South Carolina, United States (BMW US Mfg. Co.)
Chennai, India (BMW India)
Kaliningrad, Russia (Avtotor),
Rayong, Thailand (BMW Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Thailand)
Cairo, Egypt (ACVA)
Jakarta, Indonesia (Gaya Motor)

I don't see China in the list and I can't confirm that any X5 was/is actually made anywhere other than in the USA and then supplied as either a PKD or CKD kit to the other assembly plants.

But who knows - the internet has many versions of the truth. ;)

*edit*
Oh, and the engines don't come from Germany, they are made by Magna Steyr of Graz, Austria - the same folk that made the E83 X3 from 2003-2010.
