another battery thread-go AGM or not
anyone got experience with the agms batteries? can a same rated one be used in our X5's? or is it as I read somewhere that modern cars alternators churn on slightly more V that is needed for the agms? and that 'older' non start stop cars e.g the X5 alternator gives out anywhere from 13.6 -14.1?

Put one in my X few months ago. I thought the AGM was the standard battery for them so not sure why it would be an issue.

I bought this Duracell H8 AGM battery several months ago and it is doing very well. I have no issues and all appears to be working well.
I would have a hard time believing that AGM manufacturers would bring a product to market that was not compatible with the vast majority of in service alternators that more than likely were in service long before the AGM technology emerged. :dunno: :dunno: https://images.samsclubresources.com..._size_380x380$ https://www.samsclub.com/sams/auto-g...lp:product:1:1 Specifications: 20 amp hour rate:92 Battery electrolyte composition: Glass Mat Battery end type: Top post Battery purpose: Starting lighting instrumentation BCI group size: 49 CA at 32 degrees F: 975 CCA at 0 degrees F: 850 DIN code:H8/L5 Freight class: 65 Polarity: Right positive Reserve capacity: 170 Terminal type:DIN Volts: 12 Mike |
Been using the Deka 9AGM49 or 9AGM94R for at least 10 years in an E53 and E46. No issues at all.

PS alt pumps pout 13.9-14.0 driving and also idle just a tad lower/& sleep mode draw is like 0.05amps |
Whatever brand and species of batt that you get, I rec'd putting it on a low amp 'maintenance' type charger before install...
Even here in the US, batts sit on shelves for awhile, and in your location they may have been sitting longer. A nice slow low amp charge to bring that new batt up to full tilt boogie is better than a new batt off the shelf, installed and driven away, in my experience. GL, mD |
