How to remove an alternator bracket from N62 engine

Holy Hell, does anyone have a step by step guide or video on how to remove the Alternator bracket for a 2005 E53 X5 4.4 N62 Engine? I have that dreaded leak and need to get it done ASAP.

Thanks in advance guys.

god speed bro! after looking at the vids pretty quickly, I personally feel the 2nd video provided looks to be the "easiest" approach..

May the Lord have mercy on your soul!!

I should have done this as a preventative measure this past summer when I had to change out my steering rack and front suspension because I was RIGHT THERE at it, but I was frustrated with other stuff and didn't do it.

It's going to be a bitch if you are doing it in your driveway/garage. You have to remove so many parts just to get to all of the bolts on the alternator bracket itself. If/when I have to do it, I will set aside a full weekend.

I wish you luck. You should document it.

How many hours to do this? If I have to do upper timing gasket also does it make this easier?

No, timing gasket work is from the top side, alternator bracket gasket work is through the wheel well. Totally different labor steps to get to each of these gaskets.

Like I kind of eluded to before, personally I will clear my whole weekend to do this job. 1 day to tear down and 1 day to put it back together. But, I'm one man, with a floor jack and stands, hand tools, and an engine support bar.

Are you absolutely sure the leak is from the bracket? Mine turned out to be from the upper timing gasket. The oil drips pooled around the alternator bracket. I changed the bracket gasket and I still had oil leaks. Replaced the timing gasket and all was well.
