What is this connection leaking oil?

2004 4.4i N62.

So I was replacing my thermostat and the water pump when I notice oil on this connector/line. Was looking around on RealOem to see if I can figure it out. The connector is under the vacuum pump.

Does anyone know what that connector it for. Since its has oil on it I assume it could be the oil pressure switch?

Good day!

You would be correct... It is indeed the oil pressure switch... That is one of those parts BMW used for nearly every motor they have... A simple swap with a new one will fix that up...

Good luck!!

Cheers!!

You wouldn't by any chance know what kind of socket to use on that? I was going to use a pliers but i figured I would just get the correct socket type from the store in the morning.

it's $10 at any parts store and very generic... I think it was was either 22MM or 24MM

I am sure an English equivalent will work too

VERY easy fix

Same part is (was) on my BMW motorcycle even, and it leaked in the same way!
