The e53 X5 has two different self leveling suspension...there's a rear axle only (EHC I) and a dual axle self leveling system (EHC II). There is nothing you can "add" to the system...since there's no reservoir to open and add anything. :)

Since we don't know your model or which system...here's info on both types below:


Man that one with adjustible ride height dash switch is badass!

That pic shows the 1 axle EHC module behind the compressor. It's not located underneath the spare tire and compressor housing along with the other module? I'm almost positive my EHC module is fried since I am getting no response in DIS/INPA. Fuses are good but going to recheck with my fluke.

Ok just realized the orientation looks like it is next to the battery.

Thanks I found some other pics too. It's on the east side of the battery in the little tray closer to the passenger rear wheel not the bigger tray south of the battery closer to the tailgate
