Joined the heated steering wheel club
Couldn't resist anymore with it snowing like crazy here again.
Found one for 139 on ebay for the wheel and the clock spring so I bought it. Hoping it will be plug and play. Will know this weekend hopefully. |

I want one too, but not paying 400+ for the heated sport wheel. So these are my heated steering wheel.
|
Crowz, you are not in the club till it's installed and working! :) Is the clock spring different ?? I though they all had the same amount of traces just some where not used if not needed?
|
They are different. Mine had the connector housing for the 2 pins necessary but no pins in the housing on the clock spring. You need BMW PART # 613-183-790-91 and a relay BMW PART # 61-368-373-700. Just in case you don't have the retrofit document, here it is.

I have the heated sport wheel, but my vehicle parks inside heated garages almost everywhere it goes... so as MUCH as I think a heated steering wheel is needed in Canada the desire for the paddle shifters still calls to me... I wish there was a way to use two other wires from another non-used button on steering wheel to send signals to shifter paddles... |
I had reservations on retrofitting the heated steering wheel but now that I have done it, I use it all the time. It had been unusually cold this year in the south and it has been awesome. On my E46, I rarely use the paddles to command my shifting, too lazy in my old age I guess but the cool factor remains...
